How to Join Us!

We are glad that you might be interested in joining with us at First Presbyterian Church. One of the things that is required is attending our “inquirer’s class,” which functions as an introduction to First Presbyterian’s beliefs, practices, and stories. We offer this class four times a year in two formats. We offer our class in a weekend format—Friday, 6:30pm-8:30pm; Saturday, 8:30am-noon—on the third weeks of February and August. We also offer the class during the Sunday school hour for 6-7 weeks twice a year: from mid-April to the end of May and from mid-October to the end of November. The basis of our class is Dr. Sean Michael Lucas’s book, On Being Presbyterian: Our Beliefs, Practices, and Stories, and he ordinarily teaches this class.

After going through the inquirer’s class, if you still would like to join with us, a pastor and an elder will meet with you to hear your profession of faith in Jesus Christ. The final step is to meet with the church’s elders and affirm the membership vows, which emphasize a commitment to the Christian faith and discipleship in the context of First Presbyterian Church. If you are interested in more information about joining our church, please contact Knox Baird, our minister of missions and outreach, at .
