Hope for Hattiesburg began in 2006 as a partnership forged between First Presbyterian Church and Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church through the ministry of Mission Mississippi. As the city recovered from Hurricane Katrina, these two churches worked together to rebuild and refurbish homes in east Hattiesburg. As the partnership has evolved, a genuine friendship between the congregations has emerged: we worship together quarterly and are seeking to know each other in ways that speaks to the power of the Gospel to transform all our relationships. We continue to work together each year: in the summer, we host youth groups from around the country to do work on houses and host Bible clubs and in the fall, our congregations work on homes in the various neighborhoods around Ebenezer church.
There are many ways one can give to their church community. Whether your gift is financial or a gift of service, find out how you can offer assistance to First Presbyterian.
