The Women in the Church participate in two special opportunities for giving during each year. The first is the Grace Gift. This gift provides an opportunity for all the ladies of Grace Presbytery to join together to meet a specific need. This year that gift provided Bibles for our troops at Camp Shelby and was supported with great generosity by our entire church family here at First Presbyterian.
The second gift is the Love Gift. This opportunity for giving is shared by women in the entire PCA and gives insight into the overall ministry of the PCA. The 2010 Women in the Church Love Gift recipient is MNA Special Needs Ministries. The following quote is from the bulletin insert that introduces this ministry.
“Jesus Christ beautifully models for us how to relate to people with special needs: with dignity, grace, truth, genuine hospitality, mercy, justice and faithfulness. When we learn to see people with disabilities through Jesus’ eyes, we end up seeing all people – including ourselves – more accurately…All of us need to experience the Gospel every day in word and deed. And that is, at the core, what MNA Special Needs Ministries is all about: Equipping and encouraging PCA churches to make the Gospel accessible to all, in word and deed.”
Please pray about this ministry and give as the Lord leads you. For our First Presbyterian Love Gift, please make your check payable to “First Presbyterian Church WIC” and note “Love Gift” on the memo line. If you are giving cash, put the money in an envelope and mark the outside of the envelope “WIC Love Gift.” You may also mail your check to Joyce Keller, 116 Lesley Lane, Hattiesburg, MS 39402.
“HEAR THE CALL OF THE KINGDOM SO THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL WILL FLOW INTO AND THROUGHTHE LIVES OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES TOUCHED BY DISABILITY.”
